CONDITIONS WE TREAT
ADHD, OCD, and related conditions
ADHD and OCD are very different conditions, but both can take over your days: one through distraction and overwhelm, the other through intrusive thoughts and rituals.
We assess and diagnose ADHD in adults, and our virtual intensive outpatient program offers structured, skills based care for ADHD, OCD, hair pulling, and skin picking.
CONDITIONS WE TREAT
ADHD, OCD, and related conditions we treat
Adult ADHD
Ongoing trouble with attention, organization, time, and follow through, sometimes with restlessness or impulsivity. It can look inattentive, hyperactive and impulsive, or a combination of both.
ADHD that was missed in childhood
Many adults, especially women, are not diagnosed until later in life, after years of feeling "lazy" or "not living up to potential."
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
Unwanted thoughts, images, or urges (obsessions) and the things you do to relieve the distress they cause (compulsions), such as checking, cleaning, counting, or mental reviewing. We treat all forms of OCD, including contamination, checking, harm, symmetry and "just right" OCD, health OCD, and scrupulosity (religious or moral OCD).
Intrusive thoughts
Disturbing thoughts about harm, sex, religion, or relationships that feel completely unlike you. They are a common form of OCD and are not a sign of who you are.
Relationship OCD
Constant doubt and checking about whether you love your partner or whether the relationship is right.
Body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs)
Repeated pulling, picking, or biting at your hair, skin, or nails that is hard to stop even when you want to, and often happens without noticing.
Trichotillomania (hair pulling)
Recurrent pulling out of hair from the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes, or elsewhere, with repeated attempts to stop.
Excoriation (skin picking)
Recurrent picking at the skin that causes damage, often in response to stress, boredom, or tension.
Impulse control disorders
Urges that are very hard to resist, such as explosive anger outbursts, that bring brief relief and then regret or harm to relationships.

HOW WE TREAT IT
How we treat ADHD, OCD, and related conditions
EXPOSURE AND RESPONSE PREVENTION
ERP is the approach with the strongest research for OCD: gradually facing triggers without doing the compulsion, at a pace you agree to. How the program works
SKILLS FOR ADHD AND BFRBS
CBT based groups on organization, time, and follow through, and ways to notice the triggers behind pulling, picking, or outbursts and build other responses.
MEDICATION, IF IT IS PART OF YOUR CARE
Our medical team can evaluate and prescribe medication, including ADHD medication, in person or by video, alongside therapy. Medication management
QUESTIONS
Common questions
Do you diagnose ADHD?
Yes. We assess and diagnose ADHD in adults, and we also work with people who already have a diagnosis.
Is OCD just being very neat or organized?
No. OCD is driven by distress and doubt, not preference, and it can involve thoughts no one else can see.
Can ERP be done by video?
Yes. Many exposures are practiced where the triggers actually happen, including at home.
Is treatment covered by insurance?
Most major PPO and HMO plans are accepted, including Cigna, Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United. Call 949.706.8610 or send us a message and we will verify your benefits before you commit to anything.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Our program is not an emergency service.
