CONDITIONS WE TREAT

Men's mental health

Many men were taught to push through, stay quiet, or handle it alone. Depression and anxiety in men often show up as anger, working nonstop, or shutting down rather than sadness.

Our virtual intensive outpatient program gives men in California a practical, structured place to deal with it, with an evening track that fits around work.

WHAT WE HELP WITH

Men's mental health concerns we help with

Depression that looks like anger

Irritability, a short fuse, feeling flat, or losing interest, more often than obvious sadness.

Anxiety and work stress

Constant pressure, trouble switching off, and physical symptoms like headaches, stomach problems, or tension.

Burnout

Exhaustion and cynicism after years of carrying too much.

New fatherhood

Stress, low mood, and anxiety after a baby arrives. Fathers can experience postpartum depression too.

Relationships and family

Conflict, distance, divorce, or co-parenting stress.

Grief and loss

Loss that has been set aside rather than dealt with.

Trauma

Experiences that still show up in sleep, temper, or relationships. See also Trauma and PTSD.

SIGNS

Signs it may be time for more support

These are signs the National Institute of Mental Health lists as more common in men:

  • Anger, irritability, or aggressiveness

  • Engaging in high risk activities

  • Aches, headaches, or digestive problems without a clear cause

  • Feeling flat or having trouble feeling positive emotions

  • Drinking or using more to cope

QUESTIONS

Common questions

I do not feel sad. Could it still be depression?

Yes. In men, depression often shows up as irritability, exhaustion, or losing interest rather than sadness.

Will I have to talk in a group?

You participate at the pace that feels right. Many men find the groups useful because they hear others describe what they have been carrying alone.

Can I do this without my employer knowing?

Your care is confidential. The evening track means many people take part without changing their work schedule.

Is treatment covered by insurance?

Most major PPO and HMO plans are accepted, including Cigna, Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United. Call 949.706.8610 or send us a message and we will verify your benefits before you commit to anything.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Our program is not an emergency service.
