CONDITIONS WE TREAT
Women's mental health
Pregnancy, postpartum, hormonal shifts, caregiving, and the expectations placed on women by family and culture can all shape mental health.
Our virtual intensive outpatient program gives women in California care that takes the whole picture into account, and it can be done from home.
WHAT WE HELP WITH
Women's mental health concerns we help with
Postpartum and perinatal depression
Depression that begins during pregnancy or in the year after birth, different from the short baby blues.
Perinatal anxiety and intrusive thoughts
Constant worry about the baby's safety, panic, or frightening unwanted thoughts after birth. These are common and treatable, and they do not mean you would act on them.
Birth trauma
Distress that lingers after a frightening or difficult birth. See also Trauma and PTSD.
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
Severe mood symptoms, such as depression, irritability, or anxiety, in the week before a period, easing within a few days after it starts.
Mood changes in perimenopause
Low mood, anxiety, irritability, or sleep problems that come with the hormonal changes before menopause.
Pregnancy loss and fertility stress
Grief and stress around miscarriage, infertility, or fertility treatment.
Caregiving and the invisible load
The weight of caring for children, partners, and parents, often at the same time.
Culture, family, and gender role expectations
Pressure to hold everything together, and the ways family and culture shape what women feel allowed to need.
SIGNS
Signs it may be time for more support
Feeling overwhelmed, numb, or not like yourself for more than two weeks
Constant worry or intrusive thoughts about your baby or family
Mood that shifts sharply with your cycle
Trouble sleeping even when you have the chance
Feeling guilty for struggling, or like you should be able to handle it

QUESTIONS
Common questions
Is it normal to have scary thoughts about my baby after birth?
Unwanted, frightening thoughts are common after birth and are a recognized part of perinatal anxiety and OCD. Talking about them with a clinician is safe and is the first step to making them less powerful.
Do you only see women?
No. This page describes some of the ways we support women. We see adults of all genders.
Is treatment covered by insurance?
Most major PPO and HMO plans are accepted, including Cigna, Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United. Call 949.706.8610 or send us a message and we will verify your benefits before you commit to anything.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Our program is not an emergency service.
